The relationship between the natural world and the man-made world, the sharp edges of a rooftop and the puffy vibrance of a passing cloud, the grimy window that leads into the known world; I draw my inspiration from these connections and contrasts. This is what I try and capture in black and white and color photography. Architecture, daily life, shadows, light, texture, fleeting moments, and the multidimensional worlds that have nothing to do with anything that most people care about interest me most.
I like to photograph with whatever I have available. Digital and darkroom both have their strengths. To me, the hands-on photographic process from start to finish is a fascinating, constantly evolving experience, that only ends when the photo is hung up on the wall. Developing photos in the darkroom is a way for me to gain insight into what it was like for photographers before digital photography took over. Taking digital photographs is a way for me to get my artwork into more public spaces and to learn new and necessary techniques to expand and improve my work.
